Dance training |
|
About 200 children - boys and girls - attend dance classes five afternoons a week, which are offered by "Dance for All" in several townships near Cape Town. The main building is in Athlone. The Honorary Life Patron of the organisation is Archbishop Emiritus Desmond Tutu. Lessons are given in ballet, African dance, jazz ballet, modern dance and Spanish dance.
Talented youngsters can attend the
so-called Junior Training Programme. The most talented dancers of the Junior
Training Program may be included in the Senior Training Program. Next for
many promising young people who pursue careers in the dance world, there is
the possibility of a training course at the University of Cape Town School
of Dance.
